Lubambe Copper Mine has entered into a services agreement with Zedfield Mining Limited, a wholly owned Zambian company to provide underground equipment. The six months rental agreement also includes the provision of maintenance and operations crews.
Acting Director Operations Colin Farr says the mine is thrilled to award this contract to a wholly owned Zambian company.Mr. Farr has emphasised the need for safe operations in a bid to boost production. He advised the new contractor to be proactive and make inquiries on anything they were not sure of. And Projects Controls/Contracts Manager Francois Bensch says the engagement of Zedfield is meant to supplement the current fleet and provide additional resources to meet the planned production targets in the East Limb of the mine.
Mr. Bensch added that the engagement of Zedfield forms part of the Lubambe vision to support and mentor Zambian owned companies within the industry so that they become the most competitive in the region.
Zedfield Managing Director Anthony Kabaghe is elated that his company has formed a new partnership with Lubambe. Mr. Kabaghe says Zedfield will deliver according to Lubambe’s expectation.
Zedfield Mining Limited is a Zambian owned Company with 12 years of experience in mechanized underground contract mining. The company started as Rig Resources Limited, with underground mine development contracts at Mopani, post privatization.
